1

What is the 11+ exam?

The 11+ exam is an entrance assessment used by grammar schools throughout Gloucestershire at the beginning of September to select pupils for Year 7 entry. It includes English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

2

Which exam board do you prepare students for?

The GL Assessment — used for all Gloucestershire Grammar Schools.

3

What age group do you accept?

Most students join us in Year 4 or Year 5, giving them the best opportunity to build skills steadily and confidently ahead of the September exam.

4

How are your lessons structured?

Each lesson combines a carefully sequenced mix of:

  • Targeted teaching of core skills
  • Exam-style practice
  • Timed tests
  • Feedback and correction
  • Confidence-building strategies
5

How do you track progress?

Within the one-week intensive revision course, we use daily assessments to monitor each student's development. This allows our tutors to identify gaps, adjust the pace of teaching, and ensure every child is on track throughout the course.

6

Do you provide homework?

Yes, homework is an essential part of 11+ preparation. We provide structured, manageable tasks that reinforce what is taught and keep skills sharp between sessions. However, we do not recommend that students complete homework during the evenings of the intensive revision week as the days are busy and rest is essential.

7

What makes LaunchPad 11+ different from other 11+ programmes?

Parents choose us because we offer:

  • Personalised learning plans tailored to each child
  • Specialist 11+ tutoring — not generalist teaching
  • A supportive, confidence-building environment

Our approach is designed to stretch high achievers while supporting children who need more guidance.

8

How soon should we start preparing for the 11+?

Most families begin in Year 4 or early Year 5. However, every child is different. We assess each student individually and recommend a plan that suits their pace and goals.

9

How do I enrol my child?

10

What does my child need to bring along to the intensive revision course?

Two sharpened pencils, a rubber, snacks, a packed lunch and a water bottle.

11
